Dr. Luis Rebaza-Soraluz, Reader in Latin American Visual Arts (KCL SPLAS) will take part in the introduction of the visual work of Peruvian visual artist and writer Jorge Eduardo Eielson (1924-2006) to the UK. More details can be found here.

Since moving to Europe in 1948, Eielson participated in most of the key artistic trends and discussions of the post-war. This first comprehensive exhibition of Eielson’s 1950s-1960s works has been curated by Art Historian Francesca Pola (Università Cattolica, Milano). It offers an overview of his exploration of pictorial materiality, garments assemblages, and his fabric knots inspired by pre-Columbian Quipus. The exhibition also features works by some contemporary Italian artists in order to open up the discussion on Eielson’s role in contemporary art.
