Lights, camera, climate action: Virunga
Franklin-Wilkins Building, Waterloo Campus, London
Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking screening of Virunga, the BAFTA-winning and Academy Award–nominated documentary that follows a small group of courageous park rangers risking their lives to protect the world’s most biodiverse national park.
Set in the breathtaking yet deeply threatened Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the film exposes the realities of conservation work in a region impacted by armed conflict, poaching, and corporate exploitation. Combining investigative journalism, frontline environmental defence, and human resilience, Virunga is an urgent reminder of the interconnectedness of climate justice, biodiversity, and global responsibility.
This screening is part of King’s Climate & Sustainability Month and the KEATS Sustainability & Climate module, offering students and staff an opportunity to explore environmental issues through storytelling and documentary film.
