The number of women in parliament or on corporate boards is often used to illustrate the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions and efforts to empower women in their careers often focus on how those already in positions of relative privilege can overcome barriers to reach the very top. But what about women outside these groups?

Will more female leaders automatically mean more feminist leaders – leaders who are able to advance the interests of women as a group? And what does leadership – and its challenges – mean to women who due to class, race or other factors, are even further away from thetraditional leader stereotype?

Confirmed speakers:

Jess Phillips, Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley and member of the Women and Equalities Select Committee

Yvette Williams MBE, Equality and Diversity Executive and Justice4Grenfell campaigner

The event will be chaired by Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister of Australia and chair of the Global Institute for Women's Leadership
