The Global Institute for Women’s Leadership, the Fawcett Society and Dame Maria Miller MP are delighted to invite you to attend the launch of the APPG for Women in Parliament’s newest report into gender equality in parliament.

With 2028 marking the centenary of equal voting rights for men and women in the UK, the urgency to take action for a truly gender-equal parliament has never been greater.

The APPG report, Open House: Where next for gender equality in parliament?, co-authored by GIWL’s Dr Minna Cowper-Coles, examines the progress made on recommendations from reports and research spanning over 10 years which sought to tackle barriers to progress on equality for women in parliament.

Join us as we present the key findings of the report, looking at what progress has been made and the many recommendations that still need to be taken on board.

Speakers:

  • Professor Sarah Childs, Personal Chair of Politics and Gender, University of Edinburgh

  • Dr Minna Cowper-Coles, Research Fellow, the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership and co-author of Open House

  • Harriet Harman, MP for Camberwell and Peckham and Chair, the Fawcett Society

  • Anum Qaisar, MP for Airdrie and Shotts, Shadow SNP Spokesperson (Levelling Up)
  • Dame Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke and Chair, APPG for Women in Parliament
