Join us to explore the dualities of life through your phone camera: the joys and challenges, the independence and interdependence, the everyday moments that matter. Whether you're living with long-term health conditions, supporting loved ones, or simply drawn to storytelling, these workshops will help you find, frame and share your perspective.
Over three weeks, you'll discover how to use the camera you already have to capture meaningful moments, tell your authentic story, and prepare your work for a wider audience. We'll focus on what matters to you, not technical perfection.
Workshop Structure
Photography Fundamentals: 18 July 2026, 11:00am - 12:00pm
An introduction to the basics of phone photography, covering composition, exposure, and simple creative techniques through practical exercises. Participants will explore a choice of photographic themes and leave with a creative photo assignment to develop in their own time.
Discovering Your Story: 25 July 2026, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Explore your identity and story through the photographs that you have taken after Workshop 1. Bring along your photos and explore them in a supportive, encouraging environment. Receive feedback, discover new ideas for developing your photographs, and experiment with titles and captions. Creative prompts and reflection exercises will help you uncover the stories behind your images and plan your next steps.
Sharing Your Story: 1 August 2026, 11:00am - 12:00pm
Bring your stories to life! Celebrate your creative journey by sharing your favourite photographs and the stories behind them. You'll receive support to refine your image selection, craft compelling titles and captions, and prepare your work for submission to a public photo exhibition in London. We'll also guide you through the submission process for the photo exhibition.
Meet the Expert
Eva is a London-based virtual artist and educator, originally from Cornwall. Her work explores how our bodies shape the way we experience, move through, and connect with different landscapes.
She works by collecting, adapting, and creating objects - often using sculpture alongside materials such as instruction manuals and guides for creative or outdoor activities. She also leads workshops where people explore places together through making, conversation, and simple creative activities. She is particularly interested in uncovering everyday knowledge and encouraging people to imagine new ways of understanding the places they live in and visit.
Your photos could be exhibited at DUALITY, a celebration of ageing, ethnicity and multiple long term conditions happening on 8 September 2026 at King's College London. All are welcome to participate. Selected works will also have the chance to win prizes!
