"Epigenomic approaches to cardiovascular gene regulation and its role in disease susceptibility"

Speaker: Diego Villar Lozano

Diego is a Senior Lecturer in Genomics at Queen Mary University of London. His research combines experimental and computational approaches to understand how gene-regulatory changes and (epi)genetic variation influence cardiovascular traits and disease risk. He completed his PhD at the Autonomous University of Madrid, followed by postdoctoral training at the National Biotech Centre in Spain and the University of Cambridge. Since 2018, he has led his research team within the QMUL Centre for Epigenetics.

"Fast and High-Resolution Functional and Allosteric Mapping of Human Transcription Factors"

Speaker: Xianghua Li

Xianghua is a Lecturer in Medical and Molecular Genetics at King’s College London. Her research combines experimental and computational approaches to understand how genetic variation impacts transcription factor function and gene regulation at scale. She completed her PhD at the MRC Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh, followed by postdoctoral training at the CRG in Barcelona. She has led a tenure-track group at Zhejiang University and worked as a Senior Staff Scientist at the Wellcome Sanger Institute before establishing her research team at King’s in 2025.
