As part of the UK’s Nuclear Security Culture Programme (NSCP), King’s College London will be hosting an online workshop addressing ‘Nuclear Security through Decommissioning’.

This workshop, held over three half days, will set the scene of nuclear decommissioning through a lens of International Atomic Energy Agency guidance, the fundamentals of nuclear security and an executive view of decommissioning in the UK civil nuclear sector.

The workshop will further develop awareness of the challenges and opportunities associated with delivering nuclear security through this phase of the nuclear life cycle. This will be done by addressing the distinguishing characteristics between nuclear operations and decommissioning and their impact on security. To illustrate some of the factors and challenges associated with maintaining security during a changing operational environment, this workshop will draw on UK case studies.

To provide further illustration and insight, this workshop involves comment from the principal owning body and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA).

The call for applications is now closed, we are in the process of selecting participants for the workshop and will contact applicants directly. Please direct any questions to: csss@kcl.ac.uk.
