The storms are raging. The world is on the brink. While governments look away, one old and forgotten god decides to do something about it.
Dramatising the uproarious return of the god Dionysus to his homeland, Euripides’ Bacchae is one of the masterpieces of world theatre. Now, for the first time ever, it is performed in combination with Aristophanes’ comic tour-de-force Frogs to create a cautionary tale about the greatest issue of our age: the climate emergency.
The Greek Play at King’s College London has a tradition of excellence stretching back to the 1950s. Come see it reinvigorated for the 21st century in a performance that combines ancient Greek and English, demonstrating the essential role the literary past has in the world of tomorrow.
There will be pre-show talks and discussions featuring leading scholars at 6pm every evening, free to that evening's ticket holders.
The play will be performed at the Greenwood Theatre (55 Weston Street, SE1 3RA) from 26 February 2020 - 28 February 2020.
