Bio

Abigail Grace is a PhD candidate in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London. Her research focuses on China’s evolving approach to alignment and seeks to bring China’s foreign policy preferences into dialogue with existing conceptions of alliances in international relations literature.

In addition to her academic work, Ms. Grace serves as Professional Staff Member for the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence’s (HPSCI) Democratic staff. In that capacity, she advises the Committee on Indo-Pacific and defense intelligence issues. Prior to joining HPSCI, Ms. Grace was a Research Associate with the Center for a New American

Security’s Asia-Pacific Security Program. While at CNAS, Ms. Grace’s commentary and analysis appeared in several media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and the Financial Times. Her writings and analysis have been featured in a variety of publications, including The Atlantic and Foreign Policy.

From 2016-2018, Ms. Grace was a member of the U.S. National Security Council staff. There, she contributed to the development of the competitive approach to U.S.-China relations, and the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy. Ms. Grace received her B.S.F.S degree with honors in International Politics and a certificate in Asian Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
