People working in, or researching, social care often feel they need to 'make the case for social care' in a way that people working in health care or education do not. David Foster is the author of the recent briefing on the adult social care workforce for the House of Commons Library. In this webinar, he will talk about customer focus when writing for politicians and their staff. Everyone is welcome to attend this free webinar which will give audience members an insight into writing impartial briefings that capture complex policy questions in a succinct and readable format.

About this series

This is an event in the Health and Social Care Workforce Research Forum at the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce at King's College London.

At this event

David Foster from the House of Commons Library led the second webinar in the Health and Social Care Workforce Research Forum. David spoke about 'Writing for social care: engaging with different audiences' using his experiences of writing briefings for MPs. He highlighted how social care researchers should not assume politicians and policymakers have specialist social care knowledge. A good briefing needs to include background contextual information that is clearly signposted so readers can focus on the sections that are most relevant to them.

The Forum is convened by Jo Moriarty, Senior Research Fellow, NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce. Twenty-seven people attended today.
