Role Overview

The Director of UK and International Student Recruitment is a critical leadership role responsible for delivering the student recruitment targets by region and country, and the associated income. The job involves developing and implementing the UK and international strategies to attract and recruit students. This role involves strategic planning, student and stakeholder engagement, academic collaboration, and team leadership. The Director will ensure that recruitment targets are set and met across all countries and regions, aligning activities with the university's strategic priorities. The role has seven direct reports: six of which are the head of regions.

Key responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

• Develop and deliver the global market recruitment strategy over a three-year rolling basis. • Create and implement in-country integrated student recruitment plans and activities, to include awareness campaigns, lead generation, and conversion funnel activities across multiple media channels. • Lead the delivery of Kings United trans disciplinary visits to the markets, ensuring seamless delivery, high in-market impact, and positive Return on Investment. • Assign and measure delivery metrics, with monthly analysis and reporting against targets and other measures as agreed with the Director of Global Student Recruitment & Admissions. • Establish an ‘agents’ strategy and coordination plan- to include the terms of work in their contracts. • Monitor agent commissions in the market, reporting bi-annually to the executive team and IPP.

Student and Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead and oversee student recruitment fairs and events, ensuring they are of the highest quality and on brand. • Act as a strategic partner to all global agents, focusing on the top 5 agents in each priority market. • Ensure all in-market activities and marketing programs generate student and stakeholder engagement and delight. • Collaborate with the External Engagement and Affairs team to identify and develop new university, college, and school partners in regions.

Academic Collaboration

• Work closely with the Director of Faculty Marketing to ensure alignment of plans and activities across the year and in the three-year rolling plans. • Ensure strong communication and collaboration and alignment with the Faculty Deans and the Directors of Operations or their delegates, attending meetings where requested. • Co-create a three-year outlook and strategy with academic colleagues and other marketing and external relationships teams. • Ensure regular, clear, and transparent reporting and communications to internal King's teams, including student recruitment metrics and return on marketing investment measures. • Deliver timely and insightful market reports to academic colleagues to ensure effective and efficient recruitment planning.

People Management

• Lead, develop, and coach the student recruitment team, ensuring they are market experts and effective ambassadors for King's College London. • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture. • Coach and develop the team providing timely and constructive feedback, and development opportunities.

Key Performance Indicators

• Student Recruitment Targets: Achievement of recruitment targets for both UK and international students. • Market Penetration: Increase in the number of students from targeted regions and countries. • Event Participation: Number of recruitment events attended and the quality of engagement at these events. Measured by year on year increases, and achieving the targeted numbers for each activity. • Conversion Rates: Measured by increasing the percentage of prospective students who progress from initial contact to application and enrolment. • CRM Data Quality: Measured by increasing the accuracy and completeness of data entered into the CRM system on a quarterly and annual basis. • Stakeholder Feedback: Satisfaction levels of external stakeholders, such as agents and school counsellors. Measured by bi annual 360 feedback.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in in a relevant field; Master's preferred. • Extensive experience in student recruitment, preferably in higher education. • Strong leadership and team management skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to analyse data and develop strategic plans.
