King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence
Interdisciplinary AI research, collaboration, and education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming our society, our economy, and our environment. The UK is the 3rd largest AI market, investing heavily in AI research, infrastructure and skills. King’s is committed to ensuring AI brings positive benefits to all and is ideally placed to respond to these developments. Our location, convening power and multi-disciplinary research spans health, bioscience, physical sciences, social sciences, humanities, business and law. King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Futures Institute unify our disciplines and provide an optimal environment to foster future AI leaders and impact. King’s ambition is to transform research, education and entrepreneurship through our AI+ initiative. This year, we launched a major recruitment effort to appoint up to 20 AI+ Academic Fellows, building a critical mass of interdisciplinary research talent to accelerate the development and adoption of AI, while ensuring its safe, ethical and socially beneficial impact. We are now delighted to build on this momentum by establishing four AI+ Professorships focused on AI development across all disciplines, including health, bioscience, physical sciences, social sciences, security, humanities, business and law. These posts will develop world-leading research that cuts across faculties and disciplines, driving innovation, impact and application. Working closely with the King’s Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the new Professors will help shape the University’s strategic direction in AI, foster collaborations across our academic community, and provide mentorship and leadership to the incoming cohort of AI+ Fellows. These appointments represent a significant investment in the future of AI at King’s, and we warmly invite outstanding candidates who share our vision to join us in shaping the next generation of research, talent and societal impact.
