Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes. The role will be line-managed by the Executive Dean and will work closely with the Executive Dean and join the Dean’s Senior Team (Vice Dean (Research), Vice Dean (Education), Vice Dean (International, Engagement & Service) and the Director of Operations). The postholder will provide strategic direction and delivery on “People & Culture” opportunities and processes within the Faculty, including recruitment, probation, promotion, and Performance Development Reviews to support and advance Academic Education Pathway (AEP) academics and those on Education and Research (E&R) contracts (clinical and non-clinical). The postholder will line manage the Associate Dean (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), ensuring that ED&I is planned and executed to achieve optimal outcomes for staff and students. The postholder will ensure that our Faculty staff are enabled to reach their potential in line with our Faculty strategic goals. They will seek to ensure that out Faculty does so in a way that shares a common vision of academic success, supports individuals to identify their development and delivery goals, and supports them to achieve it, while ensuring that we do so in an equitable and inclusive way that encourages diversity. The postholder will work to set a vision of aspiration, equality and success in education and research in collaboration with the Dean’s Senior Team.
• To provide support to the Academic Promotions process (for those on E&R and AEP contracts including honorary contracts) within the faculty, liaising with our Senior HR Business Partner to initiate activities to encourage engagement and success. • To provide oversight and due process relating to academic probation, to ensure implementation of policy and to support teaching department and research division leadership to maximise individual success. • In liaison with the Faculty ED&I and academic leads for Athena SWAN, Race Equality and other Partnerships and Charter Marks, to facilitate the uptake of mentoring from staff and PGRs within the faculty. Identifying where needs exist and signposting to central College, or other schemes. • To facilitate awareness of central College welfare support for staff. • To deputise for the Executive Dean. • To work with central College teams to develop relevant and impactful policy and implementation plans to maximise recruitment, retention and advancement of Faculty staff. • To liaise with Deans/Vice/Associate Deans with a similar role responsibility in other Faculties. • To inform the Faculty’s organisational development activities, to ensure that interventions to shape organisational culture and retain and progress diverse talent, are in alignment with the Faculty’s strategy and King’s Strategic Vision 2029. • To provide high level advocacy for ED&I activities, working with the Associate Dean (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion), the Dean’s Senior Team, and the Faculty ED&I Structure to establish visible and committed leadership of activities. • To promote and support initiatives to develop emerging and under-represented talent with the aim to remove barriers and create a truly diverse and inclusive community. • To work with the Vice-President (People & Talent)/Chief People Officer’s team to inform and implement policy and strategy. • To line manage the Associate Dean (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion) and be ultimately responsible for the implementation of ED&I and related policies. • To champion a positive culture within the faculty, including working with Vice Dean (Research), Vice Dean (Education) and Professional Services teams on initiatives to support a vibrant & supportive research and education cultures. • To work with the Vice Deans to promote and encourage the integration of EDI in research, enterprise and education and ensure that these activities are represented in planning processes. • To work with the Vice Deans, Senior HR Business Partner, and central services to consider and promote academic, teaching and research staff working practices including career development and mentoring opportunities. • To provide strategic leadership in the areas of diversity, development and cultural change across the Faculty. • To provide thought leadership on innovation in direct relationship to diversity, inclusion and cultural change. • To work with Executive Dean, Director of Operations and Strategic Projects Manager (Education), to instigate and lead interventions that centre on people and culture, with a view to enhancing the experience for all within the Faculty and distinguish the Faculty as innovative thought leaders within the fields of diversity, development and inclusion. • To work with the Faculty Executive, provide strategic direction to the Faculty’s priorities for People and Culture, contributing to the setting and delivery of objectives and performance indicators. • To raise the profile of Faculty People and Culture work throughout the Faculty.

They would be expected to hold an international reputation in the field and have an established research programme, a track record of publications and income, and the potential for significant grant income in a field relevant to the discipline mix within NMPC. The successful candidate(s) will have strong leadership, interpersonal and education skills and will champion an inclusive working environment. The post holder will also be a supervisor to MSc and PhD students and have post- or undergraduate teaching experience within their field. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to bring a portfolio of world-class research in a field relevant to the faculty, and to use their experience to support development of early-career researchers and students to reach their full potential. They would be expected to hold an international reputation in the field and have an established research programme, a track record of publications and income, and the potential for significant grant income in a field relevant to the discipline mix within NMPC. The successful candidate(s) will have strong leadership, interpersonal and education skills and will champion an inclusive working environment. The post holder will also be a supervisor to MSc and PhD students and have post- or undergraduate teaching experience within their field. The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is a world-leading centre for education, training and research.
