KUMEC Curriculum Change 2020

The GKT School of Medical Education introduced a new undergraduate curriculum in September 2016.  GP teaching now takes the form of a longitudinal GP placement in Stage 2 (Year 2) and an 8-week “GP apprenticeship” block placement in Stage 3 (Year 5).  There are also opportunities for GPs to host students for Quality Improvement Projects.

Student Selected Components (SSCs) and Scholarly projects

During Stage 2 Year 2 students will be doing a 14 week SSC commencing 21st Sept 2017 (Thursday is the allocated day). Within KUMEC we offer a range of SSC titles and student select. Many are linked to Primary care, Health Promotion and Public Health. The allocations for 2017 are now complete but if you wish to contribute to these or create an SSC for 2018 please contact Dr Ann Wylie ann.wylie@kcl.ac.uk.  All ideas and suggestions are welcomed and can be considered.

The Scholarly Projects are for Stage 2 Year 3 students and will commence in Jan 2018. The first part is taught centrally and prepares student for research activities, critically reviewing literature and evidence base.   In Sept 2018, they will commence a Scholarly Project and have 14 consecutive Thursdays for this. They will have some choice of title and we in KUMEC will be offering a range of titles.

If you would more details, would like to contribute and or want to be considered for supervising a project please contact Dr Ann Wylie ann.wylie@kcl.ac.uk
