Cosmo Davenport-Hines Student Poetry Prize 2024 now open

King's English Department is delighted to announce the annual Cosmo Davenport-Hines Poetry Prize - with a submission deadline of 6 March.

The annual prize honours student Cosmo, who died in June 2008 while still a student in the Department - seeking to remember his creativity and love of words.

The poetry prize is open to all King's students, the English Department invites submissions of poems of no more than 40 lines on the theme of: the Future.

You may interpret the theme in any way you wish. The poem must be written in English. All poetic forms are welcome.

The winner will receive a prize of £200 plus publication in Wild Court: an international poetry journal based at King’s. Two runners-up will each receive £50. The winners will be invited to read their poems in the summer term at a departmental party to mark the end of the academic year. The party is on Tuesday 7 May 2024.

To submit: Please complete this form and attach your poem, which should be a Word document and should include only your student number, NOT your name. On the form itself, please include your name, student number and your King's Department and the degree for which you are studying.

Deadline for submission: Wednesday 6 March 2024 at 5.00 pm.
