The Health and Social Care Workforce Research Unit at King's this morning welcomed academic and third sector representatives to discuss the intersection of harm reduction, homelessness and drug policy.

  • Dr Ben Scher is a lecturer and postdoctoral research associate in the Global Health Program at Princeton University whose research explores health inequalities and social exclusion amongst populations experiencing drug-related harm. He was the speaker at the November 2025 event in the HSCWRU Homelessness series.
  • Gill Taylor is Strategic Lead of the Dying Homeless Project, Pathway Fellow for Safeguarding and System Transformation, a Safeguarding Adults Review author, and the speaker at the February 2026 event in the HSCWRU Homelessness series.
  • Shayla Schlossenberg is Head of Drugs Services at Release, which supports evidence-based drug policies founded on public health, human rights, and reducing harms faced by people who use drugs.
  • Nathan Rosier and Ed Addison are co-founders and Directors of The People’s Recovery Project, which co-produces support for people experiencing homelessness and addiction to build and sustain recovery.
  • Praveena Fernes is a Marshall Scholar in the UK, whose research has explored the experiences of people who are homeless seeking drug and alcohol services in London.
