Homelessness research features in new NHS England guidance

Two Homelessness Research Programme studies on hospital discharge are cited

NIHR circles

Two studies in the Homelessness Research Programme of the NIHR Health and Social Care Workforce Research Unit at King’s are cited in recent NHS England guidance.

In the Intermediate care framework for rehabilitation, reablement and recovery following hospital discharge (September 2023) our Evaluation of the Out-of-Hospital Care Models programme for people experiencing homelessness is cited (p.26) in relation to data dashboards for specialist intermediate care focused on people experiencing homelessness.

The same study is cited in the national framework for NHS – action on inclusion health (October 2023) in relation to examples of good practice. The national framework also links to the paper by Michela Tinelli (LSE) and colleagues on the case for hospital discharge services for people experiencing homelessness in England, this deriving from our earlier study, Effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of 'Usual Care' versus 'Specialist Integrated Care', led by Prof Michelle Cornes (Salford; KCL).
