In June 2017, the Department of Classics at King’s College London hosted an international workshop on the theme of the ‘Dimensions’ of Greco-Roman art. This event brought together 16 specialists in ancient art and the classical tradition, spread over three days of intense discussion.

This fifth meeting of the so-called ‘New Antiquity’ group of classical art historians was significant in that it marked the first time that the group had met in Europe, rather than in North America.

The conference was organised by King’s in collaboration with a number of London-based heritage partners, including the British Museum and Sir John Soane’s Museum. It was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Leverhulme Trust, and was organised by Dr. Michael Squire (King's), Professor Verity Platt (Cornell) and Professor Milette Gaifman (Yale).

The following short video profiles some of the questions and topics that the group explored.
