Jody Rosenblatt Elected to the EMBO Membership
Jody Rosenblatt, Professor of Cell Biology at King’s and Principal Group Leader at the Crick Institute, has been elected to the EMBO Membership in recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements.

She is among 60 new researchers elected this year to join this community of leading life scientists in Europe and beyond.
EMBO members have demonstrated research excellence in their fields. Jody has been recognised for her work investigating how epithelia maintain constant cell numbers in different tissues and carry out essential functions including preventing diseases.
Her team study how a process called epithelial cell extrusion is misregulated in diseases like cancer, which could help identify new ways to detect and target it at much earlier stages. They are also looking how epithelial cell extrusion is implicated in asthma attacks, how this can lead to airway damage, and if this damage can be prevented.
"We are also greatly indebted to our fantastic colleagues throughout London who have helped us to steer our findings towards the clinic. I am really looking forward to joining the EMBO community and working to promote excellence in life science research and policies.”
EMBO Director Fiona Watt said: “A major strength of EMBO lies in the excellence and dedication of its members. Science thrives on global collaboration, and the annual election of the new EMBO Members and Associate Members brings fresh energy and inspiration to our community."
We are honoured to welcome this remarkable group of scientists to the EMBO Membership. Their ideas and contributions will enrich the organization and help advance the life sciences internationally.”
