The BUCS participation programme award celebrates a programme that has delivered outstanding participation opportunities for their students, staff and community.
The Move Your Mind programme was honoured with the award due to the impact it had on the King’s and wider community during the first national lockdown.
During a difficult period with risks of decreasing activity, wellbeing and belonging Kings Sport quickly mobilised to evolve our Move Your Mind (MYM) programme to support our community.
The programme provided over 50 physical activity classes a week, one to one coaching sessions and workshops free of charge.
Move your Mind has been truly essential to my wellbeing in lockdown. The team of teachers is amazing: enthusiastic, very helpful and caring. Many thanks to all of you– Move Your Mind participant
The programme has received over 30,000 attendances, provided one to one coaching to over 100 people and has achieved global engagement from over 30 universities and 17 countries since its launch in March.
The Move Your Mind online programme is now an embedded strand of King’s Sport delivery, re-purposing our resources to create alternative and universally accessible routes to activity; with our community benefiting from enhanced health and wellbeing.
The programme has been absolutely essential to maintain some physical activity and promote wellbeing during the months in lockdown. I don't know how I would have coped without it. Thank you, King’s Sport!”– Move Your Mind participant
Our delivery continues to evolve, with the engagement of 750+ bookings a week and new delivery such as our Journey to Wellness programme. We are creating hybrid live delivery in our spaces, connecting to new audiences around the world and creating an active online King’s community.
