Dr Marco Buti, chief of staff to European Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni, delivered a lecture for guests at the launch entitled ‘Inside two European Crises’ based on his book the Man Inside.

The event took place at the Italian embassy in Mayfair on 14 June, with Professor Leila Simona Talani, director of Centre for Italian Politics @ EIS; Professor Iain Begg, from the London School of Economics; and Professor Raffaele Marchetti, vice-dean of Luiss Guido Carli, acting as discussants.

Raffaele Trombetta, Italian ambassador to the UK, was also in attendance. In his address, the ambassador highlighted the centre’s task to disseminate knowledge about Italy, its politics and its stability factors, including its institutional architecture and EU identity.

Prof Talani, from the Department of European and International Studies at King’s, said: “I would like to thank the Italian Embassy, Ambassador Trombetta and all embassy staff for being such accommodating hosts – they really helped to make the launch event a success.

“I would also like to thank Dr Buti for delivering an excellent launch address and our guests for their engagement with this event. We look forward to hosting many more like it in future.”
