The fourth and final webinar in the 2021 HSCWRU Learning Disability seminar series was led by Fintan Sheerin, Associate Professor of Intellectual Disability Nursing and Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Trinity College Dublin. Fintan presented his research into ‘Using Creative and Innovative Approaches to Supporting People with Intellectual Disability: The SOOTHE Experience’.

He outlined and discussed outcomes from SOOTHE, an international project spanning Ireland, Spain and the Netherlands which supports mental health and wellbeing among people with intellectual disabilities.

Fintan invited the 33 participants to encourage people with intellectual disability to contribute their own personal Images of wellness to the SOOTHE electronic Quilt at: https://sootheid.eu/ and received enthusiastic appreciation from participants for an inspiring presentation. The series will continue with its seventh year of events in 2022.

The slides are available from Jess Harris (contact details via link below) and the Soothe Programme website has further resources.
