Sara Tadesse Gebremaria and Zahra Hussain have received scholarships to the Global Leadership and Peacebuilding MSc, based on their previous high level of academic performance and the rigorous application process.
Sara, a student from Ethiopia, was awarded the Richemont International Scholarship and Zahra Hussain was awarded the King’s Global Leadership and Peacebuilding Postgraduate Scholarship.
We are very excited to have Sara and Zahra join the cohort of the Global Leadership and Peacebuilding MSc through these generous scholarships. The scholarships support the recruitment of excellent students to this unique programme, as well as the ALC and King's community.– Dr Eka Ikpe, Director of the African Leadership Centre (ALC)
As Director of the African Leadership Centre, Dr Ikpe is also looking forward to witnessing the journey of the students in the new master's programme.
"I look forward to the experiences of learning and exchange between the cohort and faculty on the mutually reinforcing links between global leadership, peace and society and how these will transform our students’ leadership journeys."
Having previously studied International Relations and African Studies, Sara begins her journey with an interest in leadership responses to crises and hopes to further explore leadership in countries, such as her home country. This includes how various African countries have dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The field of global affairs portrays itself as a constantly evolving area through global leadership processes and as a result, any changes in the dynamics between these components requires a re-evaluation of the field.
“It is these rapidly evolving premises that pique my interest in this course – given that no moment in a global context remains the same.”
Zahra previously studied International Politics and is interested in political leadership. Throughout her master’s, she hopes to further explore political leadership and peacebuilding efforts, particularly one country in depth.
