New books

The Unit was involved in two recent publications

Two hardback books on a table

Two recently published books involve Jill Manthorpe CBE, until recently Director of the NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce, and now Professor Emerita of Social Work at King's.

The Routledge book (published in April) features a chapter reporting findings from the study led from Ulster University on which Jill was co-investigator. The chapter, lead-authored by study Principal Investigator Paula McFadden, focuses on UK social worker burnout and coping during COVID. The study, the Health and Social Care Workforce Research Study, has generated a number of reports of surveys conducted during and following the pandemic as well as several papers in peer reviewed journals.

Published in May, Care Technologies for Ageing Societies (Policy Press) is the latest in the Sustainable Care Series, of which Prof Manthorpe is co-series editor with Sue Yeandle and Kate Hamblin (Sheffield), with Jon Glasby (Birmingham). The series derives from the Sustainable Care programme of research on which Jill was co-investigator.
