Dr Cevat Giray Aksoy has been appointed as policy advisor to the Lords and will provide expert guidance to the Home-Based Working Committee as it examines the shifts in remote work, labour markets, and workplace dynamics.

Dr Aksoy has previously advised the committee by providing evidence at a hearing in March.

In this role, Dr Aksoy, from the Department of Political Economy at King’s, will draw on his extensive research in the area of remote working to support the committee’s inquiry into one of the most important transformations facing the economy today.

Dr Aksoy specialises in labour markets, economic inclusion, and the future of work. He is the co-founder of the Global Survey of Working Arrangements (G-SWA), the world’s leading cross-country survey tracking the evolution of remote work practices and their implications for workers and firms across the globe.

As part of his research, Dr Aksoy has gathered data on home working from 40 countries and examined the changes in where people live, where employers are based, people’s fertility preferences and perceived productivity levels. In 2024, Dr Aksoy was awarded a grant by International Growth Centre to support research on remote work.
