The Unit’s recent research report exploring the availability of section 12 approved doctors for Mental Health Act assessments received a very positive reception from S12 Solutions. This is the company that developed and runs a platform (S12 Solutions) to help Approved Mental Health Professionals contact local, available section 12 doctors and so assists the coordination of Mental Health Act assessments. S12 Solutions noted that some of our research recommendations are being considered in planned changes to its platform. Overall, they praised the report as being ‘comprehensive and fair’ and said that it ‘shone a spotlight on the complex world of MHA assessments, which is almost completely unknown to people outside of these processes.’
