Return to social work schemes
Professor Manthorpe highlights the value of such schemes for recruitment and retention
As part of Social Work Week, Prof Jill Manthorpe joined a webinar organised by Social Work England that focused on Return to Social Work (RTSW) Practice schemes. Fifty-one participants joined from practice, those undertaking a gap in their careers and employers. The webinar was co-ordinated by Carole Stewart of Chinara Enterprises Ltd, who co-ordinated a recent RTSW programme, Suzanne Hudson of Local Government Association and Yvonne Wright who successfully returned to practice after a break. The event highlighted the need to see returning to social work as very much part of recruitment and retention efforts since they can be cost-effective and supportive of colleagues and people's well-being.
