Whilst the Omicron variant continues to be prevalent across the UK, the current data suggests that illness is less severe, particularly for those that have had their COVID booster vaccination.

Teaching

In-person teaching will take place on campus from Monday 17 January as scheduled in your timetable.

If you have had a recent change in circumstances that impacts your ability to arrive for the start of your on-campus teaching, please contact your department immediately to discuss your options. For advice on visas, please contact the Visa and International Student Advice team.

We will endeavour to provide support for you to access your learning should you need to self-isolate.

Postgraduate Research Students

Postgraduate Research Students can continue to undertake research on campus. Please maintain close contact with your supervisors and continue to follow local faculty/department guidance. If you are unable to return to campus due to COVID restrictions, please ensure you discuss remote study and your situation with your supervisors, and the Visa and International Student Advice team as appropriate.

COVID guidance

To protect you and our staff, reduce the risk of transmission of the Omicron variant and keep teaching and student services on campus, you must follow the guidance on our campuses, this includes:

  • Wearing a face covering is compulsory inside all areas of our buildings including in classrooms, libraries, study spaces, offices and common areas unless you are exempt (see the website for details of exemptions). Spare face coverings are available from receptions and in classrooms.

Our staff will be reminding students to wear a face covering at all times. If you are exempt, you should wear a badge to let others know. From Monday 10 January, badges will be available from reception desks, libraries, King’s residences and KCLSU hubs.
  • Take a COVID test before you come to campus for the first time and then twice a week if you are coming to campus. You can use either KCL TEST or a lateral flow test. Details of where to get KCL TEST kits and lateral flow test kits is on our website. If you are taking the lateral flow test, register your result on the NHS site and put King’s College London SE1 1UL as your place of work/education.

If you test positive, do not come to campus. You must self-isolate and complete the King’s self-isolation reporting form.

COVID vaccination

We strongly encourage you to get fully vaccinated and have the booster vaccine as soon as possible. Information on where to get the COVID vaccine and booster is available on the NHS website.

Welcome

We are running a range of virtual January welcome events over the next couple of weeks for new students and students who are newly arriving to campus. Download the Life at King’s app to find out what will be available for you to get involved with and use the passcode studentlife22 to access the Student Life at King’s Guide.

Study Abroad
