New Guardian rankings highlight SSPP excellence
The King’s Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy has performed well across a number of areas in the newly-published 2026 Guardian University Guide.

The new Guardian rankings highlight several areas of success for SSPP.
The highest overall ranked subject at King’s College London is based at SSPP: ‘Sociology and Social Policy’ came in at 3rd place in its respective category. This is based on the performance of the BA Social Sciences, BA Global Health & Social Science, and BSc Global Health & Social Medicine, all taught at SSPP.
Several other subjects taught at SSPP scored highly in the rankings. Other SSPP subjects in the top 20 are ‘International Relations’ (4th), ‘Politics’ (5th), and Languages & Linguistics (17th).
King’s is placed 21st in the overall table, moving up 7 places from the previous year’s guide. The guide provides a total ranking of 123 UK universities, along with individual ratings by subject area.
The ranking, published on Saturday 13th September, puts King’s at 13th place among the Russell Group. In June 2025, King’s was ranked 31st best university in the world and 5th best in the UK in the QS World University rankings 2026.
