Students showcase work at international exhibition

A group of students were given the unique opportunity to display their talents at an exhibition hosted in Germany.

The students, from the Department of European and International Studies, were invited to collaborate with peers from the Humboldt University in Berlin on a series of works on the theme of postwar migration in Germany and the UK.

The exhibition was part of the Long Night of the Sciences festival hosted at Humboldt and saw the two groups of students present an exhibition focusing on the Windrush generation in the UK and Germany’s so-called guestworker programme.

The students - Carolina Perotto, George Laycock, Hugo Bown, Jula Haß, William Andrews, and Yelyzaveta Sukhorukova - enjoyed a three-day trip to Berlin, which also included a visit to Kreuzberg to explore its migration history and a bike tour through the historical and political centre of the capital.

The exhibition project and Berlin trip were organised by Dr Lisa H. Anders and supported by the Strategic Partnership Funding 2025 and the German Academic Exchange Service.
