Workshop aims to foster international research networks
A King’s academic hosted an international workshop designed to foster academic collaboration and dialogue in political economy research.
Professor Amrita Dhillon jointly organised the Workshop on Contemporary Political Economy at Azim Premji University, in India, earlier this month.
The two-day event brought together scholars from the Department of Political Economy at King’s with colleagues from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Azim Premji University (Bhopal and Bangalore), the Delhi School of Economics, Shiv Nadar University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research and Ahmedabad University.
The workshop objectives were to facilitate collaborative research between Indian and international scholars, build an academic network spanning institutions in India, Europe, and the US, and encourage interdisciplinary conversations around pressing global challenges.
The keynote talk was delivered by Prof Rohini Somanathan (Delhi School of Economics) and was on designing public policy in the presence of social norms.
Papers presented were on diverse topics, such as labour economics, trade and immigration, environmental economics, political economy and gender.
