Writing about social care

David Foster of the House of Commons Library spoke at the Health and Social Care Workforce Research Forum

Houses of Parliament in London

David Foster from the House of Commons Library led the second webinar in the Health and Social Care Workforce Research Forum. David spoke about 'Writing for social care: engaging with different audiences' using his experiences of writing briefings for MPs. He highlighted how social care researchers should not assume politicians and policymakers have specialist social care knowledge. A good briefing needs to include background contextual information that is clearly signposted so readers can focus on the sections that are most relevant to them.

The Forum is convened by Jo Moriarty, Senior Research Fellow, NIHR Policy Research Unit in Health and Social Care Workforce. Twenty-seven people attended today.
