Research

Thesis title: 'Desalination at the industrial frontier: approaches to water scarcity in the 'green transition''

The project analyzes the emergence of industrial desalination in Gresik, Indonesia. It aims to situate the specific rhythms and textures of industrial water supply within the global geographies of value in the 'green transition'. Through Gresik's contested hydrosocial terrain, it develops a value-theoretical approach to the hydrosocial via attention to land, work and finance, contributing to contemporary value theory in Geography by viewing value as a critical socioecological theory of indeterminacy.
