Dr Albert Wood

AEP Lecturer in Mathematics

Biography

Dr Albert Wood is an AEP Lecturer in Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at King’s College London.

Albert’s research is in the fields of differential geometry and geometric analysis, in particular geometric flows, manifolds of special holonomy and calibrated geometry. Much of his work regards the Lagrangian mean curvature flow, including the first examples of fine singularity analysis and infinite-time singularities of the flow, as well as classifications of symmetric solitons. More recently he has become interested in G2 Laplacian flow and numerically verified proofs in differential geometry.

He completed his PhD at University College London in 2020 with his dissertation ‘Singularities of Lagrangian Mean Curvature Flow’ supervised by Professor Felix Schulze. Since then, he has held postdoctoral research positions at National Taiwan University (2020-2023), King’s College London (2023-2024) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2024-2026), before returning to London to take up his current post in August 2026. Prior to his PhD studies, he worked as a secondary school teacher and is passionate about mathematics education and outreach.
