Biography

Alexander Bastounis is a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, King's College London. Alexander specialises in optimisation, foundations of computational mathematics and the limits and trustworthiness of AI. He completed a PhD in DAMTP, Cambridge in 2018. Prior to joining King's, he held research positions at City University of Hong Kong, TU Berlin, Cambridge and Edinburgh universities and held a lectureship at Leicester University from 2022-2024.

In 2019, he was awarded a Leslie Fox Prize for his work on inverse problems.
