
Biography
Amos is an ecologist with over ten years of experience in wildlife and habitat management in African Savannahs. For the last 6 years, he has been studying animal movement ecology specifically large mammals, developing scientifically informed strategies to address habitat loss, human wildlife conflicts and land use changes in Kenya.
Amos holds a Bachelors degree in Environment and Natural resource management, Diploma in Wildlife Management and a Masters in Animal Ecology.
Research
Thesis title: 'Wildfires in African savanna – the causes and effects, dynamics and management in changing climate, and human interactions.'
Amos's research explores wildfires in African savanna. The causes and effects, dynamics and management in changing climate, and human interactions focusing on Kenya's largest and trans-boundary landscape. The ultimate goal is to create a wildfire warning system, generate information to advice policies on rangeland management, and assessing the impact of wildfires on habitat suitability specifically for large mammals.
