Biography
Ana is a Senior Technician (Operations) and Sustainability Lead in the Department of Chemistry. As part of the technical team, Ana contributes to providing full technical support to the Department, especially to researchers based at Britannia House.
She has the following additional responsibilities:
- Managing departmental spectrophotometers and HPLC instruments. This includes inducting new users and maintaining or troubleshooting these instruments to minimise instrument downtime
- Managing departmental cold storage provisions for Britannia House
- Overseeing lab sustainability practices and initiatives for Britannia House. This includes applying for LEAF every year on behalf of Britannia House. Under Ana’s leadership, Britannia House became the only Kings laboratory to have received LEAF Gold for 4 years in a row.
Ana holds a Summa Cum Laude bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond (USA) with a major specialisation in Chemistry and a minor specialisation in Environmental Studies, followed by a master degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (USA).
Prior to working at King's, Ana worked as a research assistant on a joint project between the Schools of Physics and Chemistry at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
