Public Engagement Manager

Biography

Bella Spencer is a Public Engagement Manager in the Impact and Engagement Services team. She is dedicated to supporting researchers to conduct participatory research, an inclusive approach which involves communities and users of research in the design and conduct of research. By advocating for this collaborative approach, Bella strives to ensure that research across the college responds to the needs, experiences and preferences of communities. She supports the delivery of the Participatory Research Fund and King’s Engaged Research Awards.

Bella has worked in public and patient engagement at King’s for over four years, with a particular interest in creative methods that allow communities to inform and engage with the research cycle. She has a background in Neuroscience and a Masters in Science Communication and has worked with cultural organisations including The Science Museum, Science Gallery London, Orleans House Gallery and State Gallery Berlin to develop innovative, interdisciplinary events and instillations. She also creates short films, which have been shown at venues across the country, including the British Film Institute (BFI) and London City Hall, and have been aired on Channel 4.
