Clinical Psychologist Lecturer (Research & Teaching)

Biography

Dr Billie Lever Taylor is a Clinical Psychologist Lecturer in the Division of Methodologies, within the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care. She is a qualified clinical psychologist and has worked in the NHS, in higher education and in the third sector. She has a professional doctorate (PsychD) in clinical psychology and a PhD in perinatal mental health.

Dr Lever Taylor’s main research focus is on perinatal mental health and the early years. She has led research exploring how mothers with perinatal mental health diagnoses experience the services they receive. She has an interest in understanding how interpersonal networks and wider social structures influence distress and how mental health services engage with these. She has also led research into the experiences of families who become involved with children’s social care. Her research, teaching and practice have had a focus on the improvement of service delivery to meet the needs of families.

Dr Lever Taylor is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teaches and supervises undergraduate, Masters and doctoral students.
