Biography

Catherine Brossard first studied Business (BTS Action Commerciale) at the IMS Nantes and followed on with a Government Training Course in Informatique de gestion. She always had a love for languages, so decided to undertake a BA in Modern Foreign Languages and an MA in Comparative Linguistics at the University of Nantes.

She started her teaching career in France then moved to London where she gained a broad experience of language teaching at all levels, specifically of Business French, and of team management. In the nineties, she was Head of the French team in a language School based in the City and continued her studies to obtain a Dsp.RSA in teaching a Foreign language to Adults (Edinburgh).

She then gained a solid experience of teaching, managing programmes and teams in the UK HE environment. She taught French at City University and Imperial College before joining the Modern Language Centre at King’s College London in 1998. She became Joint-Coordinator of the French team in 2005, Programmes Director in 2007 and Deputy Director in 2016.

She is part of the Senior Management team and responsible for the Short Courses, and for the Tailor-Made and Corporate courses, which involves providing consultancy to public and private clients.

Other remits of her position include overseeing internal collaborations: Lau and China Institute, and Study Abroad amongst others, and external collaborations with institutions such as London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP), Lambeth Teaching Schools ‘Alliance, Hong-Kong University (HKU), Japan Foundation.
