Biography

Cecilia is a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Croydon Early Intervention Service (COAST) and a Medical Lead within the IoPPN/SLaM Research and Development Delivery Team, where she supports the delivery of clinical research within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. She is also a Clinical Lecturer for the NIHR-funded CLEAR study (Clozapine in Early Psychosis), which forms the main focus of her PhD.

Her research focuses on improving treatment outcomes for people with psychosis, with particular interest in early intervention and treatment-resistant psychosis. She has experience in clinical trials and epidemiological research. Her PhD investigates the effectiveness and tolerability of clozapine in the early stages of psychosis, combining clinical trial methodology with a target trial emulation framework to address key questions about real-world treatment effectiveness.

Cecilia qualified in Medicine at the University of Milan, Italy, where she also completed specialist training in Psychiatry. She subsequently worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the National Psychosis Unit in SLaM, before moving to Early Intervention in Psychosis services.
