Ms Chantelle Spiteri
PhD Student
Biography
Graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) in biology and chemistry from the University of Malta and subsequently completed her master’s degree in Drug Discovery and Development (MRes) at Imperial College London. Based at the Francis Crick Institute, the aim of her Master’s research was to synthesise novel molecules designed to serve as potential inhibitors of cancer-related glycosyltransferases.
She embarked on her PhD studies in 2019, as a member of Chiappini group within the Centre for Craniofacial and Regenerative Biology. The aim of her PhD work is to explore nanoparticles for selective delivery of relatively large biomolecules (such as mRNA) into 3D tissue cultures.
Research
Chiappini Lab
Nanotechnology, bioengineering and cell biology to develop functional materials that direct cell behaviour, for applications in regenerative and precision medicine.
