Dr Christopher Loh

Biography

Dr Christopher Loh has extensive experience working across a range of mental health services in both Singapore and the UK. He is a registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a registered Social Worker with Social Work England, and a registered supervisor and member of the Association for Family and Systemic Psychotherapy (AFSP).

Dr Loh completed his social work training at the National University of Singapore and his family therapy training at King's College London. He later completed a Professional Doctorate in Systemic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Centre.

He has taught and supervised in social work education in Singapore and in family therapy training programmes in the UK. Prior to joining King's College London, Dr Loh co-led the systemic pathway on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he established the Foundation Training in Systemic Practice.

Alongside his role as Course Director of Family Therapy at King's College London, Dr Loh works as a Principal Family and Systemic Psychotherapist within the Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.

His research interests include the micro-practices and processes of systemic psychotherapy, multi-family group work, and working with social differences in therapeutic and training contexts. He is particularly interested in process research, ethnographic approaches to systemic psychotherapy, and the application of new materialist perspectives to clinical practice and psychotherapy research.
