Project title: Disabled People and Access to the Labour Market: Rethinking Workplace Adjustment Implementation

Dan Carey is currently undertaking a PhD in Management Research looking at reasonable adjustments in the workplace. They are interested in the experiences of Disabled people in securing adjustments, as well as the impact that line management, HR and organisational policy and practice can have in this area.
Dan's move into academia followed time in the Department for Education as a SEND Case Lead, where they utilised knowledge gained from their early career work in the education sector. Prior to this, they worked in the Ministry of Justice as a HR Surge Team Project Manager after spending some time working as a Prison Officer on the front line at a Youth Offenders Institution. They joined the Prison Service through the Unlocked Graduate scheme.
Dan previously undertook a BA in Education from the University of East Anglia, achieving First Class Honours, and a MSc in Applied Custodial Leadership from Leeds Trinity University, achieving a Distinction. Outside of their career, they are a member of the Disabled Leaders Network, volunteer on the Camden Community Wealth Fund Diversity Panel. Dan is the PGR representative for the HRM and ER cohort.
