Biography

Daniel Neumann is a PhD Candidate at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. His research project investigates member state intelligence support to EU foreign policy making. Specifically, he is focussing on the seconding of national intelligence officers to the EU Intelligence and Situation Centre. With this research he is seeking to make an empirical and theoretical contribution to the academic literature on intelligence cooperation in the European Union.

At King’s College London, Daniel is part of the King’s Intelligence and Security Group as well as of the European Foreign Policy Research Group. He also taught on the BA module 5SSW2050 Intelligence in War Studies in 2021/22 and 2022/23 as a Seminar Leader.

Previously, Daniel obtained a master’s degree in international security from the Paris School of International Affairs, Sciences Po Paris in 2020, which he completed summa cum laude. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Otto Suhr Institute of Political Science, Freie Universität Berlin. During these studies he benefitted from an Erasmus+ exchange with a study abroad year at the University of Warwick.
