Biography
Alex started his PhD in the Department of European and International Studies from October 2023. He is also a member of the International Political Economy Research Group in EIS.
His research aims to explore growth models in peripheral economies and incorporate Latin American structuralism and international currency hierarchy into the growth model perspective. Building on the post-Keynesian economics, he is interested in the dynamic interaction and the deep causal link between core and peripheral capitalisms.
He was honoured with his MA International Political Economy certificate from King’s College London during the 2022-2023 academic year. Prior to that, he completed his BSc in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics also at King’s, from 2019 to 2022.

Doctoral research
Building on the growth driver approach, Alex’s PhD thesis contributes to the field of growth model perspective through extending the discussion of growth model to a wide range of peripheral economies. Productive and financial structure heterogeneities lead to different growth models in the core and peripheral economies, which are interdependent and shaping each other. His research aims to specify these dynamics of the global trade and financial systems so that the research on national political economy could be developed from both the comparative (CPE) and the international (IPE) perspectives.
