Biography

Dragana joined KCL in 2024 as a part-time MPhil/PhD student, researching risks of re-trafficking & re-trafficking mechanisms, under the supervision of Dr Sian Oram & Dr Silia Vitoratou. She was inspired to pursue this topic following many years working at the Helen Bamber Foundation, a clinical human rights charity that supports survivors of human trafficking. Here, Dragana leads the Counter-Trafficking Team whose principal function is to regularly assess survivors’ ‘risks from others’, to take direct action when required, but also to support survivors through internal and external advocacy. Prior to her work at the Helen Bamber Foundation, Dragana worked for the British Red Cross, delivering support for complex cases involving asylum seekers & refugees. She also has experience with the Red Cross of Serbia, as well as supporting children in care, persons with disabilities and the terminally ill. Dragana is passionate about advocating for the rights of survivors of human trafficking. She has significant experience in delivering training in psychosocial support, trauma-informed care and support provision for survivors of human trafficking & modern slavery.
