Biography

Elena Marcus is a mixed-methods researcher with a background in psychology, quality of life, patient-reported outcome measure development, and evidence synthesis. She obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology from Warwick University (2010), a MSc in Psychiatric Research from King’s College London (2012) and a PhD from University College London (2020). Her PhD centred on the development and pre-testing of a quality of life questionnaire for people living with a rare cholestatic liver condition, primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), in the UK.

Elena joined the Cicely Saunders Institute as a Research Associate in November 2024 and will be working on the NIHR SL ARC Palliative and End of Life Care Outcomes Programme. Her research interests include health psychology, improving the care and quality of life of people living with long-term conditions, and integrating person-centred outcomes into routine care.
