Biography

Eman Yousuf is a PhD Candidate at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London, funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC).

Her PhD research, supervised by Dr Victoria Pile, Professor Patrick Smith and Dr Thomas Ward focuses on exploring the role of intrusive images in adolescent depression. The project aims to identify cognitive mechanisms implicated in the maintenance of intrusive images and evaluate innovative technologies to target these mechanisms.

Prior to starting her PhD, Eman worked in mental health services within the NHS. Her experience includes working with adults in community mental health services and with young people in the national specialist service for eating disorders at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. She joined King's College London in 2023 as a Research Assistant at the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre.

Eman completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Amsterdam and her master’s at University College London.
