Biography

"Hello, my name is Emma and I joined the King’s Wellbeing in September 2022 as a Wellbeing Officer. I am now the Wellbeing Advisor for the Dickson Poon School of Law. I have worked in support roles in Higher Education since I graduated from Essex University in 2019. Mental health and wellbeing have always been subjects that have interested me both academically and personally, particularly the difficulties that neurodiverse individuals face in an education setting. Growing up dyslexic myself, I have always been aware of the different challenges that this can bring people both socially and academically.

My approach for supporting students is to create a safe and understanding space to bring concerns to. This involves listening and considering the individual experiences to make suitable suggestions about the next steps of support. I am passionate about helping others to make positive improvements in their lives, by helping them to process, manage and resolve difficulties they are facing. Seeing the impact and difference that this has on them, and their future, is always a privilege and highlight of the role.

Being involved in team sports and exercise has a great effect on my own mental health and wellbeing, as I play football, run and try out new sports when I can. I also value my own space and being creative at times, so I read, draw and have recently picked up the knitting needles again."
